Acorn Circle: “Coyote and the Fish Trap” at Fern Ridge Library

Bring home an acorn!  Curriculum by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, adaptation and teaching by the staff of Singing Creek Educational Center.

Join us for a fun afternoon learning about Oregon history at the SMJ House in Eugene! This hands-on history field trip is best for ages 5 -12. Come learn about the history of the house and pioneers, the Kalapuya people who have lived here since time immemorial, and the fur trappers that lived in the Willamette Valley. We will have three groups that rotate every 30 minutes and explore different parts of history inside the house....

Join us at the Fern Ridge Library in October, in honor of Native American Heritage Month (in November), with Deitrich Peters of the Grand Ronde Tribe. Deitrich (Deitz) has graciously agreed to share elements of his regalia and will play flute music, talk about his culture, and answer questions. SCEC Executive Director Karen Rainsong will attend and display items of Kalapuya material culture. Best for ages 8 and up.
