SCEC is partnering with Native American Cultural Encampments to offer this special event.
Girl Scouts Day only on Thurs. July 18th, at Waterloo County Park in Lebanon, Oregon, with Deitrich Peters, a Kalapuya elder, and his family. Girls and parents will be learning directly from Native people about culture, crafts and lifeways.
Learn to put up a tipi, with the guidance Native people, and try the big drum. Then make a beaded craft, and watch some pow-wow style dancing. Ask questions and learn from Deitz and his family.
Earn your Native American Heritage badge in an authentic and informative way, and afterwards enjoy the river and the park!
Bring a water bottle and a sack lunch.
Cost: $22.50 for girls, adults are free
